Few times. It's nice. Except when it happens at the bottom of a wreck the first time you're guiding paying customers on your own - that's pretty horrible.

You need to be quite self aware to avoid killing yourself though.

I regularly puked in my reg when I first started my DM course.

Combo of seasickness, a few schooners the night before and the insistence on a hearty breakfast before starting the day lugging tanks in & out of a trailer.

It's not pleasant: before, during or after the event. Often I'd just switch regs to try and get rid of the taste, but it never really goes away. Making sure you've got all the lumps out after isn't much fun either.

Plus side is, the fish love it. If you want to attract all of the little reef fishies out of their holes, puke through your reg.

I've blown chunks once when on a dive, at about 20m (had a bad stomach, shouldn't have gone in the water in the first place). It's not good.

Puking underwater with a hangover is definitely not to be recommended (it's a technique that needs practice)...

(though you do get your own aquarium experience as the fish come over and hoover it up... )
