I really don't think I could do it any more.

Performance "appraisals", team building days, And - the worst - the chairmans annual "motivational" speech. Shudder.

According to a sauce at HP, yes.

Depends on the margin the agent has, the ability for them to soak it up and how easy it would be to replace you.

This happened to me last year (not with EDS/HP mind you), so you can try to negotiate BUT it all depends on how valuable are you perceived to be and also whether the direct management of the client has any power to override any group wide policy on the cuts.

EDS have also offered most permies less working hours, sabbaticals, and unpaid holidays, as well as completely banning overtime.

    (Hello by the way)

    Confirmation:
I am a contracting for HP through Manpower, I have just been informed by Manpower in an email that they've been instructed by HP to cut rates by 10% with effect in a month.

    Questions:
I'm new to contracting via an agency. I haven't received any communication from the HP (HR or the HP project sponsor whith which I negotiated my rate)... Is this normal?

Manpower also mentioned that I can raise an objection. Is there a point? or should any action be done through the HP project sponsor?

    Regards to all!

I was subjected to a 50% rate cut back in 2001 - I walked. And then wore a hole on the bench.

I feel for your pain, I really do.

Now if you'lljust excuse me for a moment...

[QUOTE=gingerjedi;835023]They've just jumped on the bandwagon[QUOTE]

It was expected. HP arent going to miss out on a free 10% reduction to thier contractor bill. Director bonuses and pensions need to be topped up.

They've just jumped on the bandwagon, I was working on a HP contract that was subcontracted to a German company. The end client paid in dollars who paid the Germans in euro who paid me in sterling... then they got rid of me, I was feckin' cheap looking at today’s exchange rates.
