Correct, it's site, client and arguably role specific, not transferrable, but it does have to be done as best practice prior to SC.

Nip to the DVA site and track down their SC form it's about 21 pages, if you filled that in then they've lost the forms (it happens), if not then they never intended to put you through SC.

Ok i am 5/6 through my contract and called the DVA yesterday to check the level of my clearance to be told that I dont exsist. I signed the OSA and filled out the paperwork when i arrived on site last november.

Now should i show up if security clearance is still being processed or have the client co taken a chance and not got me SC'd?

Before you ask yes I should have security clerance for the type of info that passes by my desk/eyes!

Similar thing happened to me - except I was still being escorted. I suspect that it's their way of meeting the SLA targets - if you say you've been waiting months they "lose" your stuff so the clock starts again. I'd just keep my head down and hope no-one notices.

I know a guy who sued GE because the security officer forgot to send off the renewal forms he filled out leaving him with a reduced capacity to find work, he only found out when he tried to secure a contract elsewhere. I think he won about 3k which isn't much considering.

Depends on the level I imagine but at basic level I found you can be on site but have to be escorted, somebody is supposed to come out and meet you in the morning etc. Hasn't that been happening?

I'd keep your mouth shut until the last day as security officers are right ‘jobsworths’ in general and will use any excuse to exercise their ‘power’. I've been escorted off site twice when transfers that were supposed to happen didn't.

I pointed out the client’s error on both occasions and billed accordingly.

I'd check with the client Security Office to find out what's happened to your clearance forms, unfortunately it's not unknown for them to go astray and they contain your sensitive information.

Make sure that it's submitted to the DVA before the contract ends so you do actually get the clearance.
