It's irrelavent anyway, your average journey times will be largely unaffected.

I do 60 miles each way each day, a mix of A roads, dual carriage way and motorway. Average speed for the journey is 50 mph, sticking to the speed limits or as near as I can get to them in the traffic.

Yet another person who doesn't understand maths or how "averages" are calculated.

driving safely includes limiting your speed, unless you honestly believe that it is possible to drive safely at absolutely any speed.

Driving safely means driving to the conditions of the road.

Dropping the speed limit 10mph isn't going to solve the problem that the majority of road users are ufcking useless

Learn to drive without killing each other and there wouldn't be a problem.

This happened by stealth years ago. There are virtually no trunk roads around Nottingham that are national speed limits. You'll see the little 50 roundels everywhere (in fact one infamous stretch of dual carriageway near Ikea is 30mph...)

Learn to drive without killing each other and there wouldn't be a problem.

THE government is to cut the national speed limit from 60mph to 50mph on most of Britain’s roads, enforced by a new generation of average speed cameras.

You will always be able to adapt petrol cars to run on ethanol quite easily, it's just the cost of the fuel may make it more a weekend toy, with the proles running hydrogen fuel cell-based cars.

Or, under a Labour government, roads being replaced altogether with trams and trains with micro chips put in people's brains which cause severe pain if they think about any alternative transport method that doesn't meet the "national interest". This is a good thing though as the suppression of free thought will reduce traffic accidents.
