So, true. Lets go through the list and see:

• ID Cards - Cameroon said it costs too much, expect it to be put on ice for 2 years and then brought back seemingly much cheaper. Yeah right!
• Detention without trial - Cammy will remove it once all the terrorists are defeated, which will be soon. Of course never!
• National Databases - Tories need these to find all the scroungers and they would cost too much to remove now.
• IR35 - Logica and HP/EDS need this to put us out of business. Expect them to fund the Tories large. No change here, not even in the spin of it.
• Retrospective taxation (unless the ECHR shoots it down very firmly) - He will remove this for sure. So, that will be at least the first real change.
• Excessive "green" taxes - Do not worry, they will only be for me and you. Big business will have no real taxes, they can carry on funding NuLabour or OldTories as they see fit.
• Oppresive "anti terrorism" measures - Same as above, Cammy will only remove it soon, once the evil ones are defeated. Which is never.
• Corrupt MP's expenses policies - Slight clamp down on this, but no real change.
• Inept management of the economy - Same as before, but blamed on Brown. Even though he said he would change it all straight away. Expect a raft of excuses on this just like Brown. Hence the same.
• Corrupt electoral system - Actually this might improve as Tories need it fairer due to the major slanting by NuLabour.
• Cronyism - This will get worse, the Tories always have way more fat cats to look after.
• Quangos which serve absolutely no useful purpose -Tories will remove this, sounds great yeah? But then they put them back in place. This will be spun as done, yet just be a revolving door. No change.
• Dogmatic and idiotic projects that utterly fail to deliver -Logica / HP / BT and so on, have major vested interest in this. Expect a cut back and then of course a ramp up after a long 2 year hiatus.

Also the Liberals and even the Greens (they are dropping a lot of leftism policies to gain votes) are like the Tories so, no change there then. This is why the voting is down, because there is NO DIFFERENCE between the 5 major parties. Who is the fifth, UKIP. At least they have a major policy difference on Europe and Immigrants. But that does not affect the above list so, they are once again the same.

What's the end result of voter apathy and many people out or work, workers working more hours under worse conditions for less money?
STRIKES.

Yep the worst possibly situation, massive and constant strikers across the country in all sectors. Already it has begun. Wildcat strikes by refinery works (no prosecutions) and now rail strikes. Expect more under whichever government.

If you think you can just sack 'em as there will be lots of unemployed to replace their jobs, then you do not know how firms work. Often they cut back beyond the bear minimum so, even one days strike can cost them millions. And bring a firm to being bust. Why would strikers bust their own firm for their own jobs? Well if you feel like you are working like a slave what do you have to lose? Most people deeply resent working for less and will not lump. People get twisted and bitter when treated in a bitterly twisted way.

This is what many people forget about the last few recessions, striking does not go down, after the initial shock where it blips down it then goes massively up. The people of Britain will not remain docile doggies any more.

Very interesting post : I agree with almost all of it. Except for this bit : "The people of Britain will not remain docile doggies any more.". The people of Britain have shown themselves to be proles only interested in the sun/big brother/celebrities. I still think if the sun say to vote Labour then the plebs would do it. I hope I am wrong and we will see the masses rise up and demand accountability and decency amongst the powers that be.

Indeed as Baggy said many things opposed when out of power are quietly continued when in power.
In my opinion it's wishful thinking expecting these things to be scrapped:

• ID Cards
• Detention without trial
• National Databases
• IR35
• Retrospective taxation (unless the ECHR shoots it down very firmly)
• Excessive "green" taxes
• Oppresive "anti terrorism" measures
• Corrupt MP's expenses policies
• Inept management of the economy
• Corrupt electoral system
• Cronyism
• Quangos which serve absolutely no useful purpose

Unfortunately it makes very little difference what colour rosette the people in power wear at election time, they're all as inept and bog useless as each other.

I'm sure you'd like to believe that, perhaps to justify the fact that you were one of the morons that voted this lot into power three times. No other government has been as inept as this one, and the Tories always leave a growing economy in my experience, whereas Labour always leave a complete and utter debacle.

Fair point, but the government is now implementing so much that I am fundamentally ideologically opposed to (ID cards, detention without trial, national databases etc) I just want them out before the damage is irreversible.
