Previously on "The lunatics in charge of the asylum."
There is no economic reason but it is not lunacy it is vote buying in marginal areas.
Once you see this government as desperate for more money and more votes and nothing more than that, then their decisions become a lot more rational.
WHS
They are buying votes to stay in power using your money! Remember to keep paying them there taxes, your support keeps the government in power.

I can see how this bailout might help them to carry on building cars, but I thought the problem was that no-one is buying them. How will this bailout help sales?

Well, the last 10 years our wonderful government has persecuted drivers who wanted a Jaguar, Range Rover etc... and did everything possible to discourage folk from buying them.
We happen to build those cars here in the UK employing 000's of workers, unlike the little tin cans they apparently want us to buy, made in East Europe, Korea etc...
Having now achieved their stated desire and nobody wants to buy a Jag/Landie, they now want to give £2.5 BILLION to the Indian owners of said companies.
Go figure?
Why can't we build "little tin cans" here in the uk?
I see a clinic full of cynics
Who want to twist the peoples' wrist
They're watching every move we make
We're all included on the list
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
No nuclear the cowboy told us
And who am i to disagree
'Cos when the madman flips the switch
The nuclear will go for me
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
I've seen the faces of starvation
But i just can not see the points
'Cos there's so much food here today
That no one wants to take away
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my right to choose
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my point of view
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my dignity,
Take these things away from me
The lunatics have taken over the asylum
The lunatics have taken over the asylum - take away my family,
Take away the right to speak
The lunatics have taken over the asylum take away my point of view,
Take away my right to choose
Sorry, I just don't agree. If you want to drive a lot, pay more fuel tax. We simply do not need yet another tax. Far better to abolish VED and put it onto fuel taxation, 10p a litre say?
Fewer taxes, and the taxation is then automatically proportional to the usage. Sounds good to me.
