As horrific as we all agree these murders were, we still have people that think nothing of openly glorifying or actively participating in sadism, torture and killing of animals for fun. For example the other day someone on this forum described people that don''t support fox hunting as 'city types' that don't understand the country. The message presumably being that is wrong not to support people killing animals for sport and enjoying the whole day out in the process. And yet we all must know that the pain and suffering animals feel will be no less than those murdered people must have felt and had to go through. Let's face it we are a sick species, or at least have a significant sadistic element amongst us that we share with those murderers

It saddens me that society has got to the point where watching this sort of thing is not considered immoral - indeed these sort of things have become viral, a la Saddam's hanging. Surely this is a line that shouldn't be crossed.

Like so many other things these days. Why can Kate Moss still be allowed to advertise after doing drugs? Why can Tony English's blind son be bullied?

thanks for your message. Evil is real and happens all around us. I think once people grasp that evil is real then life changes as you've identified it and are more keen to stop steps towards it by yourself, others and society in general. It doesn't have to be murder to be evil, even one person who lies and deceives can cause so much disharmony, distrust, and unhappiness to many people's lives. This realisation of the destructive and multiplicative nature of sin is one of the main reasons I'm getting more religious with age.

I thought perhaps the 2006 film Them was based on this case (as it was said to be based on real events), but reading that Wikipedia page cited in the article, it appears the murders were committed in 2007.

Maybe they got the idea from the film? A bit like the James Bulgar thing?
