Interestingly you should mention short trousers, in my junior school, I used to totally love having the lady teacher slap my legs as punishment for being naughty, I used to deliberately get into trouble for my latest fix.

I was the oldest junior school kid wearing shorts, even in Winter.

have you started treating your customers like kings now?

Were they giving you "the 1 email an hour treatment" while you were "taking those flipers for a months money"?

So they should. Name & Shame I think.

As for "they wont" - it's this precise mindset that makes them arrogant. If consumers didnt just accept crap, they'd have to get their fingers out.

A monopoly is no excuse for crap customer service.

Must say, I was expecting to get a complete blank from McDonalds, but it was a pleasant surprise to get a grovelling response to my email from one of their VPs & to find that the abusive staff member has departed suddenly.

We're in a time where brand trust is the one thing that scares the crap out of marketing & PR types, they love the thought of a brand being trusted & the second that the trust looks like it's going to be broken somehow they have a heart attack.

I've given up on taking recourse at local levels now, I just go stright to the directors & bombard them with emails & phone calls until they sort the problem out. Usually they're pretty good, but you get the odd arrogant company who need the 1 email an hour treatment....

They won’t. Now that there is a monopoly in the High Street and retail parks it no longer pays to have good customer service. There is not choice.

I made a complaint to one store about a faulty Sat Nav. They would not refund my money. I then telephone to customer services; they said consumer law has been changed and it is now the manufactures responsibility. (Yes they lied) I then sent two recorded delivery complaint letter to the directors. (No reply)

I took out a small claims summons, result: they paid up with costs.

Ring your local radio station (BBC is best), talk to the producer of the mid morning show because they usually deal with consumer problems. Explain the situation, send them the recording (edit any swearing out...easy to do) & then let them have some fun with playing it to the whole county

Either that or email the recording to the company directors with words of complaint - that works well too.

I had some oik (staff!) tell me to F**k off in McDonalds the other week - an email to the Marketing Director later & the guy has been sacked!

£200 will buy you 20 pairs of trousers at ASDA or a return flight to Istanbul and a made to measure pair of trousers done in three hours or two pairs at Moss and a enough change for a happy ending massage.

I don't know how anyone can be shocked about receiving poor service in London - get used to it.

At current clientCo, they have put me next to the European Sales team which is staffed with French, Swedish and German people. There is one German girl in her late twenties and it is a constant source of amusement for me at how frustrated she gets trying to sort out anything in London - from Doctor's appointments to recycling collection. She cannot believe how user unfriendly all these things are. She hasn't been here long.......
