    It's nice going over the Pennines, but heading east past Bolton towards the M6 it's like the cannonball run and you really need to know exactly which lane to be in at all times. Otherwise you'll end up at best in Manchester airport or, if you're unlucky, under a truck.

    It is the lorries that make the M62 a nightmare – especially going Eastbound where the 4 lanes go to three.

    Lorries drag race in lanes one, two and three. Vans and 3 tonners slow cars right down in lane 4, when cars race at the top and crash – as happened again this morning.

    They should keep ALL lorries in lane 1, and vans in lane 2, leaving lanes 3 and 4 for cars.
