    Bah! Call yourself a pro!
I once saw a house where I was expected to supply my own.

I told the agent that I thought this most unreasonable and walked out.

My bastard rental agency included the cleaning materials left by the previous tenant on the inventory.

They expected me to replace them for the following tenant. (I cheated and bought cheap own brand stuff)

I agree. 30 years ago when I didn't have the 10% deposit necessary to get a mortgage, the rental options (that were reasonably affordable) were pants.

You busted a gut to save up the 10% to get out of the god awful places.

Last year, I looked at some rental places and they were all really nice, why would you want to work your balls off to buy a place that's probably not going to increase in value in the current market.

You have to play the long game. It's no good thinking of housing as short-term assets.
