I went to Vienna a few weeks back. The main trip was to Bratislava(Slovakia) with Ryanair which cost 42 quid return from Stanstead. Both cities are well worth a visit with loads of historic architecture and Vienna is only about 50km from Bratislava for only approx 7.5 Euros return by train. There is also a ship that runs down the Danube between the two cities which takes about 2 hours.
I'm going to Bratislava next week for the w/end.
Any tips on what to see.
Quite like the idea of a day trip to Vienna as well - will I be able to visit with just my UK passport?
I once got told by a German Turk not to go to Vienna at New Years because the Italians decend on mass, go wild and spend the whole time setting firecrackers off.
I've spent new years twice now in St Marcs square, Italians party with style and risk with minimum control... none of your health and safety nonsense. Firecrackers let off in one hand a glass of champers in the other...

I've been to Wien four times, and I saw ........the airport
BTW, anyone know what those two enormous buildings near to the airport are?
They look like normal detached houses, only scaled up about ten times....
There was an awful lot of building going on around the airport in 2007.
I flew BA from Manchester and Berlin Air from Belfast/Stanstead.
Not quite too sure where the airport is as I drove there but I did stay in the World Trade Center, which was a shock. Thats a large building area which could be it...
