Apparently some judge sentenced a guy to death twice. This is what passes for logic in the american legal system. He appealed, and it was commuted to life imprisonment. That is, one of the death sentences was. The other stands.

A more appropriate punishment may be hysterectomy (sans anaesthesia, natch) followed by life without parole?
