The A1 was first tested "for real" on Op GRANBY (GW1, 1991) and I had one there. Total, total POS - to such an extent that most of us were carrying pistols as well so that we could use them when (note: not "if") the A1 jammed.

Strangely enough, since H&K re-engineered the A1 (turning it in the process into the A2) it's a much, much better gat.
