This thread illustrates quite clearly how idiots from both sides of an argument (Alf with his "whatever is wrong with the world is the USA's fault" to warmongers like NickG who think we should nuke Russia now) have no idea of the realities of situations and instead pick out events, statistics and facts to support their own fanatical agendas.

Whilst it is alarming that the Russians are flexing their muscles their aims are as much to do with internal and international politics rather than setting themselves up as a serious military threat. The Americans know it which is why they are not retaliating to these Russian gestures

Boris berezovsky offers a perspective that is very much in keeping with the views of many professional commentators from the economist to the sunday Times

Er, I seem to have found a slight wrinkle in your "logic". From an earlier posting of yours in this Thread:
"Yes, but Russia never believed in MAD, because it is complete nonsense. There's no end of the world even with a full scale nuclear exchange. I could pull out quotes from Russian generals stating just as much, that it's a peculiarity of the western mind to believe there are no winners in a nuclear conflict, if I could be bothered to find them."

Surely "unacceptable losses" is the same as "we all die, or are reduced to Iron Age status"?

Would it help if the acronym was LOONYTWAT, instead?
