World of Warcraft....played since it came out 2 years ago now I think.
So much to see, so much to do...new content added regularly....
But what makes it better is finding a guild of players who all have the same overall objective and help each other.
There are 3 basic types of guild.
1. Hardcore
These guildies expect you to be on for raids and events. If you are not, you get kicked from the guild, or you lose loot rights.
2. Softcore
These guilds form on the basis of friendships with real life mates. They have a lot of fun, but don't really achieve much.
3. Balanced
These are social guilds, who use teamspeak to chat on raids for game advantage, or to chat socially when not in a raid. Members help each other where they can as much as they can. Raids are organised on a noticeboard, so you can fit in as it suits you, rather than be expected to show up when told.
If you go WOW, PM me for more details....

Played an awful lot of CS:S untll I got WoW. Easy to pick up, easy to get into, stupidly hard to get good at. You will get hosed every round for the first month or so until you learn the maps and the moves.
Played Final Fantasy XI Online for about 18 months. Nice RPG, especially if you like the Final Fantasy games anyway. Requires dedication, not an easy game to play.
The original Half Life won't stretch your PC much these days even with all the eye candy turned on but it's still probably the best FPS ever made. Don't bother with the online play, it's crap. Play Counterstrike instead.
Half Life 2 will give your PC a work out if you go for all the candy but not as good in gameplay terms. Same goes for the online play as the original.
Ghost Recon : Advanced Warfighter will test your new box's performance but it's a crap game.
Battlefield 2 is an excellent Modern Warfare FPS or go for Battlefield 2142 for the same kind of game in a futuristic setting. Both have online and single player campaign modes.
Finally there is World of Warcraft. Don't go near this if you like RPG's and want any kind of life. Certifiable electronic crack. The first month is always free....Last edited by DaveB; 14 May 2007, 14:56.

RTS = Real time strategy - originated with DUNE or Command & Conquer
I am currently playing CIV IV - go online and you will see EternalOptimist (aka scourge of the mongols)

Is this easy enough to get into, and can you play online like one would in Unreal Tournament (that's the 1 game I have played in the past 5 years) ?Originally posted by XTCCounter-Strike, Day of Defeat

Always has been and always will be - Counter Strike Source (apart from the original, pre-source, CS was the best). Het Half Life 2 to learn the moves and then play the CS addon with mates and a few beers.
Far Cry is pretty cool too. Not enough time for games these days though

In the MMORPG genre...
To "stretch" your PC (but not yourself) , EQ2
To have fun (and kiss your Real life goodbye), WoW

What's RTS?
Yep it's been that long since I last played games seriously!
Can't say I'm really into WW2 games, but wouldn't mind trying it to stretch the PC a bit.

Company of Heroes - if you like WW2 games, its awesome - they call it RTS but it really not THAT RTS, it's just awesome - I'd say the first game I really enjoy since M&M Dark Messiah, but in terms of RTS it is like first top since Warcraft.
