    I've just sold my house. They wanted a % of sales price. The % for me was too high so I got them to fix the price. My argument is always that it costs virtually* the same to sell my £700k property as it does a £200k property, so why should I pay more and subsidise smaller properties.

    The agent had a buyer in the wings** so didn't bother arguing with me and accepted.



    * I say virtually as most of the effort for estate agents should be after the offer and chasing through to exchange and completion. Make sure you select an agent you trust to chase the sale through, and they're not just putting up some photos on Rightmove

    ** The buyer came to view the next day, made an offer and sold.
