Have you missed the foreign aid budget going down from 0.7%?
Some raw meat to his "base".
If you read ToryGraph comments ( ) then every 2nd post there is - "cut foreign aid, cancel HS2 etc".
They can't hit 2025, there is not enough fiber in the world basically to do it AND they were told that next day BoJo announced it during campaign, and now they are claiming credit for something Virgin planned and invested into well before election!
Anyway, I am about to get Optical Fiber soon meself but no thanks to BoJo
It's not a question of a budget and even if it was then it's well cheap and well worthwhile long term investment.
And in any case if this MANIFESTO PLEDGE depended on budgets then they should not have made it WRITTEN ELECTION PROMISE.
The reason they delay it is because pathological liar Boris wasn't even competent enough to know that it's not possible to hit 1 gbit by 2025, even without Covid.
By the way, it's not even 2024, it's just a year since election and they are already folding on this promise - pathetic pieces of tulip could not even get to 2025 and say: look guys, we tried to go for ambitious 100%, but we got to 85% up from 9%, so it's B+ and we sure promise to finish it all in the next 5 years, just elect us again.

This budget is BoJo all over. He can't stick to any promise.
Yeah, because COVID hasn’t eaten into government budgets at all, you oddball.

Is it a backtrack or is it a realisation that the original target was unachieveable? Would you prefer they said it will take until 2035 to get full-fibre coverage?
“ The government said more than a third of UK premises now have access to gigabit-capable connections — up from nine per cent when it took office in July 2019.”
Yeah, thanks to Virgin upgrading existing connections to DOCSIS 3.1
Government backtracks on full-fibre broadband rollout pledge
“ The government has backtracked on its pledge to bring full-fibre broadband to the whole of the UK by 2025.
The promise to reach all premises across the country with gigabit-capable speeds was a key part of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s manifesto at the last election.
But in its national infrastructure strategy published today, the government watered down its commitment, saying it would only reach 85 per cent of premises over the next five years.
“The government is working with industry to target a minimum of 85 per cent gigabit capable coverage by 2025, but will seek to accelerate rollout further to get as close to 100 per cent as possible,” it said.
It came as chancellor Rishi Sunak announced that £1.2bn will be spent on rolling out full-fibre broadband by 2025 — part of the £5bn fund already announced.“
