Oh well.
Client didn't respond yesterday and according to his receptionists with either out all day or in meetings as was his PA it would be nice of they could be consistent!
He sent a blanket email at 6am saying that owing to IR35 he was only accepting 3rd parties working for him who would sign that contract!
He has sent it to (who i know about) his investment company, me, a firm of electricians, a private equity specialist, an offshore tax specialist and an offshore law specialist!
This will be interesting..........
I have just replied saying I cannot take on the work etc
Anyone want a property strategy doing Thursday or Friday??!!

Up until this email he has been very easy to deal with and enthusiastic. The pre-visit documentation is even early! I had it last week. That is a bit rare. I normally have a limit of 72 hours prior to arrival on site as a deadline and with some clients even that can be a challenge.
The investment company are very legit. They deal with the uber wealthy! You must have a minimum of £10 million clear cash (no finance) to invest via them. I have had a lot of work of from them. I know them very well and have known them for just over 10 years and known one or 2 of their clients just as long (I know a fair few of their clients well)
We are not sure where he got this contract from. All I know is 2 of the parties he sent the email to as they have informed the investment company. Again they both do a lot of work with the firm.
Still awaiting a response from him. I will probably try calling his PA tomorrow and see what happens. I'm due there Thursday next week.

Update.
Just heard from the investment company. We had a good chat and a giggle. I even got a referral!
Apparently he sent the same contract to others involved in his estate and wealth including a private equity specialist and an electrician!
He hasn't responded to my email yet.

Just waiting for a response to my email now.
The investment company that referred me are happy with my response. (Keep the investment manager involved and the Senior Partner in the loop and on side for more referrals )

Well it is my giggle of the today
Many of you will know that the contracting I do these days is no longer IT but is majorly in the property sector and is one particular product/service combo at that. No contract. My terms of business suffice and the scope is pre agreed with the customer (Land size, new build, reuse etc). No agency in the mix. I get this work through word of mouth and 3 investment companies that refer me. (no fees or kick backs).
Been chatting to this bloke about doing a review and strategy on some of his property (100 acres or so). Agreed the deal last week. Going to do the onsite next week (socially distanced of course).
This morning he emails me with a contract that is from a major IT agency (they are part of a famous recruitment plc) for a line 3 support guy and wants to change the details and for me to sign the contract but with me doing the work direct!!!!!!!!
He was advised by a friend to get me to sign it!
Fear not a response that doesn't mention a seven letter phrase involving the word off but means it has already been sent!Tags: None
