I'm not sure this is true, we tend to group all Americans together. It's a massive country. I met a couple from New York that laughed when I said that I was going to Florida. Much the same way we would do the same if a tourist was heading off to Blackpool.

There is definitely a massive gap between rich and poor, when you are poor in the US, you are damn poor. But I've met a whole load of people that are nice, educated and intelligent people.
