Previously on "andrew marr interview of Rishi Sunak today"
I watched about 10 mins of his appearance before the urge to slit my wrists became too much.
So he thinks gig economy employers offer sickness benefits, and grudgingly conceded that only some do. He said universal credit will pay out for sick leave for people not covered by their employers and implied it was a route open to everyone. Refused to be drawn on whether small businesses could get a sick pay rebate, which could be essential for some firms, saying we'd have to wait until Wednesday - such a tease!
He never actually said, unless it was after I switched off both literally and figuratively, that freelancers get sick pay.
I stopped after Marr moved onto what the lady from the WHO said and something about our NHS. So if he went back to freelancers after that then I did miss that golden nugget of shiny goodness
