Yeah...Alex Blumberg. Season one of his podcast Startup on trying to start up a podcast company is well worth a listen, later seasons not so much.Originally posted by hairymouse View PostFunny how many good podcasts have their roots in This American Life. Didn't one of the Gimlet guys come from there as well?
Even though This American Life is technically radio, it's still a fantastic podcast.

Genre-bending listen. What you think you're listening to for the first couple of episodes morphs unrecognisably. Seven episodes of about an hour each.

series 3 was a lot better than 2 and is worth a listen. It follows different people through the US criminal system.Originally posted by hairymouse View PostHas Serial done anything interesting lately? The first season was probably the best podcast series ever made, season two was mediocre and I don't think I've listened since then. Am I missing out?

One for the list: The Boring Talks
There's only about 40 episodes, each is around 15 minutes long and consists of someone talking about something they find fascinating that others might find boring.

In Our Time, from Radio 4.
Different subject each week, round-table discussion hosted by Melvyn Bragg with 3-4 expert (really expert) guests. Each week could be anything from quantum physics to a history of the Achaemenid empire to 14th century religious art. Almost always far more interesting than you might expect, and literally hundreds of episodes available.

If you like the Archers, you'll like DumTeeDum. It's a funny, weekly round up and discussion of events in Ambridge.
Sounds like you might like Planet Money as well, it's like Freakenomics.
Answer Me This! is classic comedy
