If there's puzzlement at Barclays winning, I'm stunned RBS was second.

Utterly clueless, incompetent leadership not knowing what they really want, complete ignorance that technical debt in itself isn't the problem but poor management is, try to run before walking etc.

Sounds like the ideal client for those that have perfected the art of 'keep calm and carry on invoicing' where there's plenty of work at a decent rate while management chase their tails, and at the end of the day it's only a bank so not trying to cure cancer or anything important so pride in work is a non-issue as long as the CV looks good for the next contract.

I got hit with the rate cut first time I was there which then meant I was able to negotiate notice period and leave quickly. So far so good this time but contract ends soon and already have had several offers come in so no threat from any rate cuts as I'll just walk.

So to summarise then, Barclays is a crap client. Some people were lucky and it was OK but as a client they generally suck, hence my disbelief it won.

I guess it's won the best client award but is also quite likely to have won the worst client award as well

3rd time in Barclays, all depends on the team and who you are working with. Great team this time round but only first time was the work any good.... Endless bureaucracy and inefficiencies bit like the NHS except with a bottomless pit of money. Bad team + Working in Barclays is nothing short of a prison sentence.

I guess it depends which Barclays - Barclays Capital, retail, wealth, as a whole, etc.

If a client is paying well and renewing, of course they're your favourite.

The same has been said for many years. It's just the size of them really, not the best or worst. The fact that Contractor Umbrella isn't even mentioned this year yet Danbro, who had all the payment issues earlier in the year comes 3rd proves that.

Yep Danbro made a complete mess of things with payments. Very poor in dealing with it as well.
