I have around £30K I am thinking of taking a punt with.....

I can give you excellent advice, with no fee.

Note: Your capital is at risk of my spending some of it on a luxury holiday, and putting the rest on the 3.30 at Kempton. You may not get back all you invested, particularly if the favourite loses.

A punt or investment?

A punt is generally a high risk, high reward, short term "bet"

Investment advice is generally on a 5 yrs plus horizon.
