Goals are the same as in the beginning, ugly hacks that obviously won’t meet them got rejected out of hand.

You could have PEEKed and POKEd to your heart's content in Sinclair Spectrum basic, all in 16k of RAM.Originally posted by AtW View PostYeah, I should have used VB6, then I'd be able to use PEEK and POKE to write machine code

In terms of the thread itself, have the goalposts stopped moving yet?

Being retired I don't do pro stuff anymore but its amazing what you can still do with VB6 student edition. Got a program to backup to my spare computer on network, is really fast, one to play any of my favourite tunes on Youtube, another to show my password list by clicking on a small hidden area on my desktop, plus loads more. I do know how to (or did anyway) use .net etc but VB6 is so much simpler and always works. Embed the latest MS browser? No problem.Yeah, I should have used VB6, then I'd be able to use PEEK and POKE to write machine code
What I really like about MS is their backward compatibility. Certainly not true of Google. Used to do Android programs. When I wanted to make a few small changes I would first have to spend hours just trying to make the existing code work properly.

I guess skills shortages are real and I’ll have to get somebody offshore, oh well.

Maybe you need to hire some people at your place that know what they are doing from a technical perspective.Originally posted by AtW View PostWhy would somebody want to write assembly code if it was not for performance? No wonder you voted for Brexit!
Assembly code should be anything I can do in normal C/C++ - can target just x64 (no need for cross platform), but I want convenience of writing it in C# rather than having to recompile framework itself - this is again for performance reasons, of a programmer.
Assembly will only be used for functions that will be called a lot - millions of times per second.

I want to hire somebody who can do the job (as intended by me, not workaround that makes no sense from performance point of view, plus complicate maintenance).Originally posted by woohoo View PostWell I feel motivated to help you. Sounds like you are just trying to be a billy big balls.
