That was 6 years ago, he's past it now, which is why he's retired and making tv commercials. One of the very best in his day though.

My gut feeling before the tournament was France, and I haven't been convinced to change my mind. A potential France/Brazil semi-final has all the makings of a classic.

Hopeful rather than confident. It's the old cliché of taking one game at a time. Don't underestimate the Swedes; no Zlatan but they're very well organised and a good unit rather than any individual brilliance.

Get past them and you're either facing a hostile encounter against the host nation or Modric pulling the strings for a technically very good Croatia.

Dare to dream and we'll probably be up against France or Brazil and it's a case of who gets jelly arm.

The vast majority of the population already have at least one ID card. We just call them passports, driving licences, and national insurance numbers.

I’ll repeat though - it’s not the ID itself, but the system. Requiring foreign nationals to register (as many countries do) requires a system and resources. That requires extra cash from the taxpayer and a bit of work to set up and run. Teresa May decided it would be easier to cut the cash from the Home Office instead. We have lazy and inept politicians and a population that prefer an easy ride.

Normally local government would do this, but since all local councils are rubbish at everything except collecting parking fines, we'd have been screwed either way.

No, I mean restricting movement to people with health insurance, with work to come to, and who can support themselves if there is no work and they haven’t met a minimum qualifying period for benefits.

How that’s implemented is up to a competent government department.

I suspect that “how we roll” is to take a lazy way out and blame others, in which case I agree with you that you don’t belong.
