You can make a longer coffee with a normal Nespresso by adding hot water to make an Americano. Size wise it does ristreto, espresso and lungo.

The Vertuo does an espresso, gran lungo, full cup and alto. It used a barcode system to figure out the brewing parameters.

The alto looks ridiculous but not having to boil the kettle would be a boon. Not sure if I'm bothered by frothy milk gadgets and steamers. If it uses silly barcodes does that mean 3rd-party ones aren't around, I saw on Which they recommended some at 1/3 the price the proper ones.

Yeah I prefer a proper mug though if I can make it whenever I want this might change to a cup. Will the original Nespresso not do long coffees then, I hadn't realised the Vertuo uses a different pod size. It was one I had noticed.

I said I work from home. How many people's houses are next door to a Costa given they're generally either on high streets or in malls.

Or if you are a home worker, phone service desk with a made up laptop issue and get PC to pick you up a coffee on his way round to note down the asset tag number, for escalation to support. Make sure you tip him, though.

Why don't costa or some such other do Coffee for delivery - have it ready for 6am delivered to your door. Loads of Milk persons would jump at the opportunity, would be the first time people are happy to see em. Electric vehicles, so it's green also. Fresh milk. I feel like I'm Elton Musk on the verge of a revolution.

I'm very tempted to get one of the new Nespresso Vertuo machines for the office. Pods are a bit dearer but I do prefer a longer cup of coffee.

I drink long coffee and if I am going effort-free I want to basically just press a button, not have to separately boil a kettle. Any recommendations?

I think this is the most recent coffee machine thread.

I work from home and have always used a filter coffee machine (like in an American diner). It's great for the first cup but then it stews so you either have to drink a lot of coffee fast, or it goes to waste. It's not really that great for one person who wants coffee throughout the day, better for making a pot for a few people.

Very similar to Mrs Bloggs machine too. Makes a decent brew without the machine costing an arm and a leg.
