I was merely pointing out some of the teenagers know they will be sent back as adults.

If we were looking at their asylum applications properly they wouldn't be accepted as children in the first place as if it's safe to send them back as adults it's safe for them as children.

In other words we are too nice to some of them as children and shouldn't be.

Btw was looking at some figures and some of the lone children come from Russia, Cuba and Albania not only countries known for having a conflict.

At 18 asylum seekers have their cases looked at again and while they may have been given leave to remain as a child then placed with foster carers if they have no family, they can be subsequently refused asylum as adults and deported. It doesn't matter if they came here as a 9 year old or 16 year old.

Officials are only challenging the age of child migrants if they look like they are over 25, The Daily Telegraph has learned as it emerged some of those claiming to be under 18 have already been proven to be adults.

Home Office guidance states that asylum seekers should only be challenged about their age if they are found to be "significantly over 18 years of age".

Staff have been instructed that the policy should only be used with "extreme caution" and that they should only verify their age if their appearance suggests they are "at least 25 years old".
