    Indeed. Older windows apps only report the OS version as Windows 8.0 ; to get the proper version number they need to be updated and marked as supporting the newer OS. It's a better solution to the old compatibility mode gubbins.

    There's just no good reason to be on XP anymore... All but the very eldest of legacy apps have pretty much been proven on Windows 7 32 bit... Still could be worse, could be Vista!
