    I always go to the Chinese - don't even phone the order in for collection. If I phone it in, it's at least half an hour before I can collect. If I had it delivered, it would be half an hour and then the traffic system means it would take them longer to drive here, find parking, and come to the door than it takes me to walk there and back.

    But when I walk in and order, I go straight to the head of the queue, and can be back home with the food within twelve minutes of setting off on a good day

    There's never another customer waiting in there more than once or twice a year. Constant stream of orders going out for delivery though.

    Too many to count. Within three minutes walk there's a chicken and pizza place that also does kebabs, a kebab shop, a cob shop, a Polish café, an Indian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a modern British café, a traditional British greasy spoon, a Chinese takeaway, another chicken and pizza place (no kebabs), yet another chicken and pizza place, a Dominos pizza place, a fish & chip shop, a Caribbean café, another Chinese takeaway, and a takeaway curry place.

    And Greggs is only another thirty seconds away

    Within five minutes walk, you can add at least another one of most of those again.
