Cum, fish and Chips?Originally posted by zeitghostA Chinese takeaway cum fish & chip shop.
Right next door to the vets.

The takeaway has a cleanliness rating of 4.
I'm not sure what the vets' has.
I prefer gravy on mine....

I always go to the Chinese - don't even phone the order in for collection. If I phone it in, it's at least half an hour before I can collect. If I had it delivered, it would be half an hour and then the traffic system means it would take them longer to drive here, find parking, and come to the door than it takes me to walk there and back.Originally posted by meridian View PostWith Deliveroo / Just Eat / HungryHouse, dozens. Don't think I've had "takeaway" (i.e. gone and collected it) for years now.
But when I walk in and order, I go straight to the head of the queue, and can be back home with the food within twelve minutes of setting off on a good day
There's never another customer waiting in there more than once or twice a year. Constant stream of orders going out for delivery though.

No wonder the UK is fat!Originally posted by NickFitz View PostToo many to count. Within three minutes walk there's a chicken and pizza place that also does kebabs, a kebab shop, a cob shop, a Polish café, an Indian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, a modern British café, a traditional British greasy spoon, a Chinese takeaway, another chicken and pizza place (no kebabs), yet another chicken and pizza place, a Dominos pizza place, a fish & chip shop, a Caribbean café, another Chinese takeaway, and a takeaway curry place.
And Greggs is only another thirty seconds away
Within five minutes walk, you can add at least another one of most of those again.

How many takeaways do you live near?
linky
According to new figures provided to the Guardian by Cambridge University’s Centre for Diet and Activity Research (Cedar), there are now 56,638 takeaways in England – more than a quarter of all the country’s food outlets – with some of the heaviest concentrations of fast food found in England’s poorest and most deprived neighbourhoods.Tags: None
