Ypou really believe the Japanese will open their markets to European cars?Originally posted by BlasterBates View PostThe point is after this trade deal is signed Japan will have tariff free access to export cars to the EU, whereas the UK will still need to negotiate that. Germany of course will get tariff free access for their car exports to a market twice the size of the UK.
You need to think about that in particular as to how this will impact the UK´s negotiating position.

That is so funny...

Is it really a good idea to have a great trade deal with a country who pretty much make the same tulip as you?
Will the Germans really all start buying Japanese cars?
Or the french?
Sometimes I wonder if any of you fu<kwits have a brain - just because you have a trade deal it does not mean it will add value.

Dispute resolution is through a supranational arbitration panel, so it would not fly with leavers who insist that English courts should have power over foreign countries in any FTA signed by the UK post-Brexit. Something about sovereignty for the UK but not for others.Originally posted by PurpleGorilla View PostDoes the EU-Jap deal have FOM and ECJ strings attached?

They already do, but they're currently manufactured in the UK.Originally posted by original PM View Post
Guess where they´ll be coming from in the future. One wonders if the UK might have put a brake on that had they decided not to leave.

Finally you understand what the remain camp were talking about. Brexit have been going on about getting a trade deal with the EU because "the EU will be desperate to deal with us". The EU will happily sign a trade deal if it has been negotiated well, but that doesn't force them to buy anything from the UK.Originally posted by original PM View PostSometimes I wonder if any of you fu<kwits have a brain - just because you have a trade deal it does not mean it will add value.
Glad you're on board now and finally understand that you made a mistake supporting the idea of leaving.
