Might get a dash cam for my motor.
And a minigun.

I kept it in my car attached and learned the lesson in a hard way. Cost of lesson - £250. Passenger side was broken into and dash cam was stolen. Nowadays I remove it whenever I leave the car even for few minutes. Annoying but I am getting used to it.Originally posted by VillageContractor View PostDo you keep your dash cams attached when not in the car or do you remove them every time you leave the car?
Had a few break ins to cars in our area recently so assumed it would be best to put it away when not driving. Knowing my memory I'd never remember to attach it

There are options to include vehicle speed, vehicle number plate etc. During the initial couple of videos I disabled them. I have now enabled them. 512G has got very good clarity (youtube optimises video which makes it a bit blurry though) and it has Polarizing Filter as well.Originally posted by Troll View PostNo option to include vehicle speed?

Slightly off topic but, daughter got a car jumping a red light on her dash cam, number plate clearly visible. She notified the local police on their web site. Amazingly, they called her and asked if they could call round to get the video clip on a memory stick. Maybe the driver got way with it, but he likely got a darn good telling off in the process.

Without a dashcam you stand much less chance of getting a claim settled in your favour. If you have an expensive car I view them as essential. I've already had someone make a claim via my dashcam footage even though I was not involved. The accident happened to the two cars in front of me - I just witnessed it.Originally posted by psychocandy View Postbut like I said, you have an accident that's not your fault. 3rd party denies responsibility. Its £1000 to pay for the damage for your car, £1000 to pay for the damage to 3rd party.
Even though you might have evidence that it was absolutely not your fault, it may well be that your insurer will work it out and say, nah not worth the hassle for £1000. I guess they know how it costs them is proving they're right as opposed to just paying the garage after all.

Was around £135 a couple of years ago. Highly recommended. It also has speed camera alerts plus the software is very good. When playing back the video on a PC you get a map alongside the camera playback plus a picture of the car showing the active g-forces acting on the car in real time. In the event of a crash that's important information as it allows impact and braking info to be recorded even if it's from the side or rear. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
