Work permits are not easy (legally), pretty sure they do a HSMP/T1G type visa, just rates are are stunningly low, like try http://www.hh.ru (need to be able to read Russian) tax is 30% at first for a period (can't remember for how long), then 10% and you get the balance of 30% back.

Rates and salaries are quoted in Rbls per month, don't see many contracts though, 99% perm....

I mean maybe there may be some enterprise consulting opportunities in Russia, just not sure if they will be willing to recruit from the EU/UK...

I have been meaning to run some Office365 services ads in Russian, boy if there is demand in Russia, this may be good money.

I know . If you speak only English such contracts are far in between in Europe, so even being put forward is a bit of success.

That's the way. Aim low and you'll never be disappointed.

Put forward means you are just 1 of X CVs sent to the end client from which you may or may not get an interview.

As for Office 365 being dead - nope its a core (if not THE core) MS focus...

1. Office365 is not totally dead for my class of profile.
2. There is still point in learning that tulipe.
3. Good money may be on the table in the future.
4. Self Reality checked: Keep learning dev, do 3 - 4 of web site Plan Bs.
5. Keep hoping there will be economy to live off and possibly no war, specially since Trump had the sense to stop western invasion into nuclear Russia ..
