    Two different explanations in one.
    The religious explanation is:
    1. God rested on the sabbath - which is Saturday, hence Saturday is the 7th day.
    2. Jesus rose from the dead on a Sunday, so Christians tend to see that day as more important than the Saturday.

Starting the week on Monday makes far more sense for most people.

    First day of the week?

It always used to be Sunday.

Just been arguing about this with some people. They said go and look at a calender. Sure enough, they all have Monday as the first day of the week.

When the hell did that change and why?
