Quite interesting the two journalists who interviewed Trump where he made these remarks are either right wingers with a certain vested interests or close ties to industrialists in Trump's camp. Also interesting is the fact that the Bild journalist is actually leaving the paper due to a sexual harassment case (although he doesn't have enough 'hush-hush' money) so he has something in common with Trump **** me, Gove and Trump, Farage and Trump and so on...How to ruin your Monday morning:

Quite funny really:
BMW said on Monday that its new plant will cater “for the world market”, adding that the company “feels right at home in the US”, where it supports more than 70,000 jobs.
Only a few days earlier, BMW board member Ian Robertson said its facility in San Luis Potosi was for global production, and would not need to sell to the US.
“It’s a full-blown operation to produce cars for anywhere in the world,” he said at the annual motor show in Detroit, in anticipation of criticism from Mr Trump.
“The plant is capable of making right-hand drive, left-hand drive, various models, various derivatives, so when we know what we need to know, then we can decide where it goes. We need the capacity anyway.”
When asked if the plant could survive without selling any models to the US, he said “absolutely”.
Separately, when asked what Mr Trump could do to make sure German customers bought more American cars, Germany’s economy minister Sigmar Gabriel said on Monday: “Build better cars.”

A couple of days pass; Trump finds himself, for some entirely spurious reason possibly relating to a thing he saw on TV or maybe a dream, wanting people to think he likes Germany. "So the Germans, we've got a great relationship with them, really amazing relationship, we're setting up this deal to get their cars here, which are fantastic cars by the way, you won't believe these cars…"

"So the Germans, they're trying to send their cars over here, which by the way are terrible cars, you won't believe how bad these cars are…"
Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.

Protectionism - what could go wrong?
The best cars in the world come from Europe, not Germany. Germany does not trade with America, the EU does.

Trump is a moron who has no idea what he is talking about. A narcissistic psychopath who spouts the first words that come into his head. Mind you, 'Brexit is Brexit' comes a close second

...and BMW sticks two fingers up.
BMW executive Peter Schwarzenbauer told reporters the company was sticking to plans to invest around $1 billion in a new plant in Mexico, which is due to go into production in 2019 and create at least 1,500 jobs.
