Our village only went back onto mains yesterday - for a week we've been running off a generator connected to the sub station. Good news is they haven't taken the genset away yet so if it goes down again it will only take a few minutes to reconnect.

Must be all those foreign energy companies leaving the UK I'm not too sure where you live but there are some pretty good maps out there showing this information, i.e. UK Power Networks - Live Power Cut Map For London, East & South East England
