They'd have to start first. There's a thought why not build something we actually need instead of some poncy lifestyle 'choice'.

My new BPM system.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostCome on, what is it going to be?
I'd like to get away from IT and start doing something else. Back to a little wheeler dealing, retail, services etc
What do you think? What do you think is going to be needed in the future?

He's performed perfectly adequately as a corporate pole choker, I don't see why he shouldn't broaden his horizonsOriginally posted by CretinWatcher View PostYou'd need someone other than MF to perform it though

I'd stay away from anything physically retail. It's high effort/cost/risk.
I would say look at emerging tech that can be used on a mobile phone/device to provide a service. Recent products like home automation are a good example, being able to control things in your home through a phone app.

Lady Bacchus and I thought about a speciality-tea place with books/newspapers available on kindles or tablets. Didn't get far enough to working out the licencing implications but I'm sure it could be arranged.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostNot a bad idea. What about the books though?
No point in trying to compete with the big coffee shops, do coffee, sure, but concentrate on fine blend tea.

So one small leap was all I could find. They were a private company set up in early 2000 with 250k. Star trite bought them and sold them last year. Ten million turnover.Originally posted by meridian View PostOne Small Leap specialise in kids shoes, that sort of model seems to work okay.
One of our local shops do second-hand clothes, but quality/"new" ones - the sort where new parents have received a tulipload of baby grows and the baby's too fat, the clothes in there still mostly have the original tags on.
That was the model I was looking at.
