    Just spoke to one of my clients. There's a new technology available in the client landscape, and I've agreed to create a Proof of Concept application for the IT department. If the business decides they like it, then IT will pay me for the work I've done.

    I've done this in the past and ended up the main source of expertise for a few years on the technology.
