Yeah, fair enough. It can get old, esp. when cars are looking to block you... there must be uniformity of misery

Once worked with another contractor who said it took 90 mins to drive to work and that his average speed was 85mph.

I said that I thought he lived 40 miles away. He said he did. I pointed out that meant his average speed was under 30mph.
    He argued that it wasn't.

Eventually he changed his argument to "there's a bit of the M6 which, if it's clear, I drive at 85mph as a maximum speed"

Thankfully he went perm before making too much of a fool of himself.

My last one was about the same speed then. 6 miles took about 25 minutes by car. I could have cycled, but I've never found a cycle with a heater, heated seats, music system, roof and impact protection.

    Off topic!

Fastest commute was about 2 minutes. My first job, several years I lived so near the plant (Texas Instruments) I could hear it at night.

One evening last summer it took me 7 hours to drive the 13 miles from Bradford to Huddersfield. This included 6 hours on the M62, stationary, between Cooper Bridge (J25) and Ainley top (J24). It was a deeply unpleasant evening.

Standard issue journey time is 1 hour either by car, train or bike. On that particular occasion, I could have walked in a brass diving suit quicker.

My last contract in the UK has a 45 minute 1 mile commute to the coffee shop in town via walking the kids to school and a nice stroll through the park.

    Slowest Commute?

Not longest, or furthest. What is the lowest average MPH for a commute.

My journey is 12 miles and it takes an hour. About 5 minutes walking and 55 minutes by motorcycle.
