American foreign policy seems stuck in 'Cold War' mode at the moment. The Yanks being busy trying to roll back the Russkies from Syria and the Ukraine and wherever else the dirty Reds maybe lurking...

Part of the strategy to beat the Commie hordes in the good old days was to unite Europe. The CIA even formed the 'American Committee for a United Europe' to help make it happen.

Euro-federalists financed by US spy chiefs - Telegraph
DECLASSIFIED American government documents show that the US intelligence community ran a campaign in the Fifties and Sixties to build momentum for a united Europe. It funded and directed the European federalist movement
    Old habits die hard.

Are there really still people so naive as to believe the UK has any significance whatsoever other than as one of the USA's lackeys? Bless

No biggie. Obama is just being honest. It may well be convenient for him, and for the USA, to have the UK stay part of the EU. Brexit would mean he has to keep a bigger list of phone numbers. No other reason has been given, so meh. I like the US, but their opinions on this are irrelevant and they will realize that. Honestly I don't think they really care.

Outies are so terrified of anyone independent expressing any kind of opinion that disagrees with them. Perhaps if you had some stronger arguments you wouldn't need to be?

I agree it's probably bollocks and nothing will change, but he only said he was concerned about a weaker EU. Putin on the other hand loves the idea.

    More gringos propaganda.

NATO was founded for ages before the EU was formed. Turkey not belong to the EU ( and hopefully stay out ) and is a founder member of NATO.

Obama probably replied with 'there would be less fear in the world if you didn't tulip your pants over Libya'
