I am panicking a bit, as finished before xmas and now still not got a contract interview but been supposedly put forward by pimps for at least 20 roles!!

I've never had this...in the past, get put forward for about 3 or 4 roles, get on average two interviews, nail one or both and away I go...

and my CV is better then before with more experience and more qualifications!!

the warchest is good for a year, but I am stressing out a bit...

If you're in work and you ask an agent, they will tell you how buoyant the market is.
The day you are looking for a new contract is the day that *suddenly* the market is really quiet, but the agent has a lot in the pipeline which should be coming through in 2-3months...

There's 2 bank holidays in May (2nd and 30th) which means it will be a slow month for recuitment and then you hit the holiday season so September will be boom time IMO.

Feb and March will be slow due to the new tax year being round the corner

April will be slow as they will be allocating budget and prioritising for the year but May will be boom time.

One pimp told me that there's currently alot of new contractors on the market who have made the move from Perm to Contract over Christmas.

That's just to lower your expectations so that you accept a lower rate.

Well my current pimp (one of the S3's) has told me the reason for the delay in processing my extension is that they're back office is very busy atm.

no. it's a fast & furious world of high demand, low supply and difficult if not downright daft delivery timescales. at least this week anyway.
