.Net is a pretty goood earner - especially in Finance, but is certainly not the top tier for salaries. Business knowledge in combination with such a language is what might get you into the higher levels of renumeration. SAP by its nature implies you have business specific knowledge.
There may be many people 'learning C#', but most companies are pretty stringent in their requirements, and you need to have around 4 years experience plus a good knowledge of architecture, OO / UML / patterns, lots of associated MS technologies, and be able to present oneself. People who are demonstrably able to think through a problem, and know the limitations / benefits of the language and platform are in great demand.
The company I am currently working for are hiring and it's been quite comical... some of the people who are '.net experts' on their CV just should not be let near a keyboard, and are soon weeded out.

I personally would go Java simply because everybody is learning C# at the moment, so I suspect that rates will go down for C# bods.
