They do perhaps over-egg the "moody" vibe if that's what you mean? I love Independence Day though it's no cinematic masterclass, but it IS full of humour and is quite light-hearted and very up-beat. You don't seem to get that these days much.
Maybe they're trying to be taken seriously.

Oh dear. Any high-profile child actors?Originally posted by Dallas View PostAlthough in jan there is one about the Catholic Church in North America with a tonne of high profile actors, can't wait for that one.
I'mk finding a lot of these new S.F. films are drearily bleak and pessimistic "old man's films".
The Aliens prequel was a good example, and I won't be surprised if Independence Day 2 next year is another

Went to see starwars today, all the pre film ads were remakes; bfg, turtles and another Harry potter type and starwars itself are there no original ideas?

I'm going to hold on to low hopes, because then it's likely I will enjoy it. Going into a movie with a huge sense of excitement nearly always leads to disappointment.

never realised they were making a sequel
think the first one was the last time me and my dad went to the cinema together to watch a film
wouldn't want to take to take him to watch the sequel now, he's got parkinsons, the popcorn would go everywhere

Never been a Will Smith fan except for the Legend of Bagger Vance which is an awesome film.
