The correct response would have been to refer them to the Emergency Assistance Booth....Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostThe helpdesk (recently outsourced to India) want an incident resolved because it's been given high priority. They fail to understand that just because it's high priority for them (they'll have failed to hit their target), it's not high priority for the rest of us.
I've given two technical solutions (neither of which the helpdesk people actually understand), but the people who would choose which solution to implement are both on leave, and nobody else actually gives a toss. Helpdesk in panic.

Racist might be if I said that, just as a hypothetical example, that if the helpdesk (service desk...) was in Warsaw I doubt we'd have this level of headless chicken mode. Or perhaps that would just be an observation.Originally posted by MarillionFan View PostAll a bit racist this post isn't it. Perhaps if you all worked together as a team, then this mistrust wouldn't happen.
One client I worked wanted to improved the development process. So I arranged for one project, that two functional analysts from India would spend four weeks with the functional analysts in Europe, so the Indians could really learn the requirements, and thus communicate better with the offshore developers (once they'd returned home). It worked very well, and that project was delivered early, under budget and to quality (based on rework requests). This process was never repeated as the obvious implication was "why stop there".Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostIndeed, the solution is to outsource the development team, test team, delivery team, management team, and all other teams, then there's no "them and us" anymore.
