In Russia I seem to remember you had to have a wee sign in the back window to warn people you had snow tyres on. Think it was a letter 'shah' or 'shyah'. No idea what it stood for...

Also most insurers require notification under the terms of the contract, when bored look at yours.
and that commitment in that document only refers to private use.

If you are like the only one with winter tyres then you might just end up braking a lot quicker than others and they'll stop right into the back of your car... later insurance company finds out it's because you fitted winter tyres and you never warned them!

Had me worried there as my son always fits them in winter. But apparently just 3 companies need to be informed:Bizarrely a number of UK insurers will load premiums. It's a deviation from manufacturers standard spec since sizes and load factor etc will differ. So they need to be notified.

Buy exactly the same Porsche Cayenne but with winter tires on - drive it when cold, and drive the other one when warm.
