£38K & £300k in my last road, which is funny because my last road you didn't get change out of £400k. I suppose they are counting the estate across the bridge. the flats there were only £180k.

I paid a lot more than the average for my house, and it is identical to the rest of the street.

Average income is only 26k apparently, seems quite low considering the houses ain't cheap - says 7 times but my house was around the 9 times mark.

No, it's a regular family home for normal people. Way bigger than the flats most Londoners live in

    £38,301 and £ 243,000

The average house costs 6 times the average net household income. Lenders typically offer 4.5 times income at most.

Loads of places. £100k doesn't just get you a house but a fairly nice house, often in a fairly decent neighbourhood. e.g. I drive past this one and looked it up out of interest:

3 bedroom town house for sale in Rosewood Walk, Ushaw Moor, Durham, County Durham, DH7 , DH7

    Official ratio just over 10.

In reality there are lots of self-employed people and renters around here. Plus you can't get a house for less than 500k but you can get a flat.
