IT contractors at Bank of America Merrill Lynch face being laid-off unless they agree to do the same work for much less money.
Those who wish to keep their contracts at the bank must cut their rate by 10% from Oct 5th, in addition to taking two weeks off by Nov 6th.
Once these compulsory furloughs are added to the reduction on a typical six-month contract, it equates to a real-term pay cut of almost 20%, one affected contractor told ContractorUK.

I did not know the thing above about intra-company transfer though. I've worked at companies that have employed Indian people though, some had to be sponsored, some could only work for X time, etc.
If you wonder why rates in IT are the same as 10 years ago, and bench time gets longer and longer and permie IT wages are on par with trainee manager at McDonald's, there's your answer.

Literally hundreds of people in Halifax were made redundant and replaced with either offshore or ICT in the last seven years or so. No skilled British citizens and ICT visas being granted are not connected in any way whatsoever.
Anyone who actually believes that probably voted Tory "coz they luv small bizznizz, innit"
