If you honestly think that your MP represents your views in any way other than by sheer fluke where your opinion coincides with him/her or more accurately Party line then you need to take up residence in a rubber room.
On a plus side - house prices always go up!

There have been times when representation meant more than it does now.

My "representative" doesn't represent my concerns at all, and it is impossible to change my representative. There's too much money and power involved in politics, and so of course politicians have found ways to use the power they have to entrench themselves.

Such as unsolicited dividend taxes. I suppose we get to "petition" against it with the privilege of patronising, sneering responses as a bonus.

They should of made David Millband the leader way back, the fact that labour can't between themselves pick a decent leader with a bit of image makes me think what chance they got of running the country and makes me think they are bunch of prats. I know image is not everything but in a global arena it does count, I don't follow politics much as you may have guessed but when I saw in the paper the picture of the new labour leader my first thought was there was some typo or screw up in the paper.

I quite like IDS and it's not often I say that about a Tory politician. Sensible, as you say.

Interesting poll commissioned by the Evening Standard which does have a Tory political bias (25% of it is owned by DMGT - Daily Mail General Trust)

“It is our conviction that what benefits the capital benefits the rest of the country. This is a diverse city with many shades of political opinion. We respect that multiplicity of views. This paper’s view, however, is that a Conservative government under David Cameron would be in the best interests of the capital.”
