UKIP - no new peers. Anyone who didn't vote UKIP at the last election deserves everything they get IMHO.

I suppose, since the end result is that they will be ignored anyway if it doesn't fit the government's agenda.Originally posted by Waldorf View PostNo need to have the House of Lords to do things like this. No reason why Commons committee's could not co-opt experts to give considered opinions etc.
We'll see about whether I vote for them in the future. I didn't this election.Oh, and I vote Tory as well!

House of Lords is a scandal, just a club for ex MP's to have a comfortable life after they retire. No way that there should be an unelected chamber in the 21st century.
While they are at it they should get rid of annual honours and just have one medal for service to the country.
Oh, and I vote Tory as well!

In fact back in the late 90's there were over 1300 peers but that chap Blair reformed it so that there less than 700. Then old CMD became PM and in his first year appointed 117 peers, cronyism at its bestOriginally posted by SueEllen View PostHe must be hoping the people who he has added actually turn up.
Labour and Liberals together still have 80 more peers than the Tories.
Though there is one massive problem only half the peers can fit in the chamber at any one time....
Its actually quite interesting to look at the list of peers that he has appointed and see how many of them are contributors to the Tory Party

The Chinese National People's Congress is the only parliamentary body in the world with more members than the House of Lords, yet David Cameron insists on adding ever more unelected peers at a faster rate than any Prime Minister in history, beats the EU by miles

But at least you can jump through the hoops. They might have done IR35 in a way that it was impossible to avoid, or just introduced the 7% dividend tax 15 years ago.Originally posted by eek View PostNo she gave us a different utterly insane and implausible set of hoops that we continually jump through.
