It is perception. (PS you need to move to a proper hunting county like LeicestershireOriginally posted by xoggoth View PostI do wonder if this "posh" thing is a myth. People who hunt round here are mostly as common as muck, it's more us posh(ish) sorts who oppose it.

There you go: Wolves, lynx and wild boar could be reintroduced to British forests - Environment - The IndependentOriginally posted by minestrone View PostBring back wolves, that would sort the problem out.
We're starting to see wolves here, in fact some have been seen not far from me although a couple have recently been run over by cars and there have been sightings of bears in Bavaria. Didn't the Daily Mail run a scare campaign a short while back about European Wolves invading the UK (wandered through the tunnel, climbed into the back of a lorry?)

What about cock fights? Badger baiting? Bear fights? Dog fights? Squirrel worrying? Agent trolling?Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostThat is it. Banning Foxhunting has no material benefit to anyone. So it is not as if one liberty is being taken away in order to deliver another liberty.

It may piss people off but only to pander to prejudiceOriginally posted by Platypus View PostWhat I meant was they should leave the ban in place as it is now. Relaxing the law will just piss people off. People who just voted Tory for the first time, some of them.

I believe that foxes are classified as Vermin because they are a threat to humans in one way or another like rats . in the case of foxes they kill farm animals which has a detrimental effect on people's livelihoods. Organising a hunt to kill them is I believe the most cost effective and efficient way of culling them. I do not like the idea of people getting enjoyment from killing animals but for many in rural areas it gives employment and a sense of community. as I endorse the killing of animals for food and my livelihood is not affected by the antics of foxes I feel I am in no position to stop others from hunting (which would include fishing).Originally posted by vwdan View PostAs an argument, this makes no sense whatsoever really. You surely agree that animal cruelty laws, in general, are a good thing? As in, I should be restricted in my 'rights' to randomly torture my cat?

Actually, having reviewed what kind of 'journalism' Spiked promotes, I've decided to simply pull out of this discussion. The Onion has more integrity.

Tories shooting themselves in the foot on this issue.
Especially as Cameron has dismissed abolishing the 45% tax bracket, saying that the government has more important issues to deal with.
