I imagine you won't be getting your magazine through this month. Have you been writing letters to them again?

started a topic Someone just gave me £50!

    Someone just gave me £50!

2 years ago I had to setup a new bank account for a mortgage (Lloyds to get a discount). I keep the old account alive - setting up a new one is so much hassle!L

A few months ago I got a letter saying I had not used the account for 9 months so were thinking of closing it. I transferred money in and out. I transferred money in last week.

Today I transferred it back - and found an extra £50 in there! Paid in on the 16th April. Reference had GBS in there. Internet search revealed possible is government banking service.

Only thing I can think of i that I am VAT registering a limited company so setup a government gateway account. I certainly did not give any bank details.

Could the government have kept some old bank account details and transferred the money in?

Or it could be something else different?

I will leave the money i there a few months and see if anyone claims it. Any other suggestions?
